Brookline Police and Fire Departments move into renovated state-of-the-art facility
Walking through the building on Monday, [Chief] O'Leary said the new three-floor facility, which will also house the Fire Department's administrative offices, is a big improvement over the old two-story building. "It is unbelievably different from what we did have," O'Leary said.
Capitalizing on a 20-foot alley between the old Washington Street fire station built in 1870 and police headquarters built in 1960, the town and architecture firm Donham & Sweeney have made one of the most obvious improvements on the combined facilities by adding considerable amounts of community space in the building... Architect Brett Donham said opening up part of the building to the public, while still maintaining security, was a high priority in the renovation of the building.
