Donham & Sweeney conducted a Feasibility Study in 1997 testing the partial demolition and restoration potential of this 1893 fire station listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We discovered that the construction of the exterior walls would not support partial demolition, and so we designed 15,000 square feet of modern, fire fighting space to replace the 7,000 square foot historic station. The new station uses the same palette of materials as its predecessor: slate, yellow brick and granite.
