The Master Planning of Bowen's Wharf spans a 33-year period. Donham & Sweeney began working with the client in 1969 to design a mixed-use commercial development on the waterfront in Newport, RI. The scope included the restoration of 18th century buildings, the renovation of 19th century buildings, and the design of a variety of new infill buildings. Some of the key issues and elements we considered in the process were enhanced pedestrian circulation making connections to adjacent properties and creating outdoor spaces for public celebrations.
