The design of the new Wilson Chapel at Andover Newton Theological School grows from the imperative to facilitate the making of community and to assist in the formation of spiritual beings. It grows as well from the long tradition of the New England meeting house; which was a space where worship, cultural events, and civic decision making all happened and in the process created communities. This building was the opportunity to re-invent the New England meeting house; to create a simple form and to fill it with life. It will enable worship, concerts, lectures, and school meetings, as well as exhibits, small group prayer, fellowship, and counseling. Wilson is the place on campus where the spirit is nourished in all its aspects.
